Pack a universal adapter. Most of Europe uses Type C plugs, but UK uses Type G

It depends on your route. For 4+ countries with lots of train travel, usually yes. For just 2 to 3 countries or short trips, point to point tickets might be cheaper. Use the Eurail trip planner to compare.

The Schengen Area allows 90 days visa free for many nationalities including US, UK, Australia, and Canada. This covers most of Western Europe. Check requirements for your passport.
Ryanair, EasyJet, and others can be cheaper than trains for longer distances. But factor in baggage fees, airport transfers, and time. Trains often win for city center to city center travel.
